It must be taken into consideration that vegetarians, perhaps even without realising it, can take into their system a number of carcinogenic substances. How? Mainly through pesticides and similar sprays, as well as colourings, flavourings and many other chemical food additives. Food that is natural and 100 per cent pure can only be guaranteed if you produce it yourself, and then by organic growing methods. Furthermore, it must be noted that the development of cancer is not solely dependent on diet. It is no doubt beneficial to our health, however, if we eat the right kind of food, because we are then more likely to avoid the substances that promote cancer.
However, it is easy to minimise the advantage gained from a healthy diet by ignoring other factors that are closely linked with a natural life-style. If you have to live and work inside all the time you are subject to a serious lack of oxygen, which must be remedied through plenty of exercise. It is also wrong to curtail the time allocated for rest and relaxation only because of being too conscientious and responsible. Why? Because doing so only produces a situation in which you live under constant stress, and this inevitably leads to tensions in the body, which in turn trigger mental and emotional ups and downs. Once physical tension has disturbed the mental balance the result can be cell irritation, and if this continues over the years it may also be a factor in the development of cancer. For this reason, true inner happiness and optimistic confidence are wonderful remedies, creating a different basis for life. Worries and anxieties, however, when added to overtiredness, can be even more dangerous in stimulating the development of cancer than can errors in diet.
